ImageWith all the hype and media coverage of the new Apple iPhone, an important product has been released by apple that has slipped under the radar. Apple has released a new version of their Airport Extreme base station that includes 802.11n compatibility. This was a much needed upgrade to the now aging Airport Extreme line that gives a boost in performance that would be perfect for those that are wishing to stream large video files to new “devices” like the the new AppleTV. Ah….it all becomes clear now.

Here are some of the specs.

By the way….according to MacRumors it looks like some of the Core 2 Duo-based Macs have been shipping with a nice 802.11n chipset that will be enabled with a software update from Apple that only comes with the Airport Extreme.
