LDB_1847As I took hundreds of photos and shot tons of video at CES, I couldn’t help but think what would I do if I ran out of disk space on my camera’s memory cards. I was thousands of miles away from home and my large storage, my laptop was dead, and my iPad only had about 15GB of available space on it. I would have had no choice but to purchase more SD cards. Not really the best option.

So I was pleasantly surprised when I stumbled upon the Colorspace UDMA 2. This little guy is quite an impressive piece of technology and really a life saver for photographers and videographers. So basically what you are looking at is a card reader and a hard drive combined with a 3.5″ screen for previewing your images. However, it goes beyond that. This device also has the ability to decode raw imagery from most camera manufacturers and even has the ability to share photos/videos/data with an iPad, iPhone, or other wifi device with an included wifi adapter.

Not only does this device do a myriad of things, it does them quickly. With a transfer rate of 27MB/s this little guy is no slouch. Here are the specs:

  • Backup CF/SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC memory cards at blazing 27MB/s speed
  • View JPEG/RAW photos on 3.5″ color screen (480 x 320 pixels) with actual decoding of RAW images
  • File management tools like copy/paste/delete/move/rename/create folder
  • Included Wireless Adapter allows hard drive contents to be accessible from iOS, Android, any WiFi capable device or FTP client
  • Recover lost or accidentally deleted photos from memory cards
  • Device is highly configurable and firmware upgradeable
